Traveling in Time of Plague!

Medieval plague costume The amount of HOOPLA one must endure to travel during the pandemic is truly extraordinary. Covid tests, documents to complete, vows to wear masks etc. But to finally see my darling granddaughter in person, I did it all.
This was my first international trip since 2012, but other than the covid business, not much else has changed--i.e. the airline food is just as dreadful as ever and airports are as vile as they always were.

Leeds

house My daughter married a Leeds lad and they have a charming house in the city. Lawrence has labored over every inch of it, painting and trimming and making it perfect for his family. They took me to parks, we partied with friends, and my fellow grandma came to visit. They had prudently laid in a store of white wine for me, which I kindly drank for them. Lawrence cooked excellent dinners, and Kairos was an angel. Except when she kept her parents up all night. However as I was up on the third floor I missed out on the fun. grandmas with granddaughter

Quick trip to London

I took a train to London to meet my dear friends for lunch, and it was so grand to see them-- it's been so long since last we met! But mostly, I played with my lovely granddaughter.
And then it was time to take the plane home--good bye Leeds, good bye UK! Thank you for a wonderful time! Some pictures here.
