My dear cousin Sandy married her new sweetheart, David Camp, on Sunday, September 6, and it was a splendid wedding! Sandy has had some hard times, with her first husband deserting her and the 2 girls, after first moving them to the opposite side of the country, 3000 miles away from her much loved family. Sandy stayed in California, brought up the girls with no help from that weasel ex-husband of hers, and created a home and a successful career for herself. Once the girls were grown up, Sandy married again. I never met Ward, who died in 2003, 6 years ago. Sandy said that she thought that was the end of love in her life, and that she now faced the long road alone, with no dear companion at her side ever again. And then she met David! David has also gone through divorce and the death of a spouse--this is also his third marriage. And for both of them, now in their 70 's, this third chance at love is a miracle, a chance they never thought they'd have. They were both radiantly happy, it was a joy to see them.
Such a lovely wedding! David and Sandy live in a charming California style ranch house, with swimming pool and patio at one side of the back, and a large green on the other, where a hundred chairs were set up for us. Sandy came up the aisle looking perfectly beautiful, and after the simple and lovely ceremony that made them man and wife, we ate and drank and partied and danced. I am so happy for them! A wonderful occasion! Here are some pictures, showing the pre-wedding barbeque and the wedding party.
