Joy and James met and fell in love in Japan, where they were both teaching. They married, and had a splendid honeymoon traveling from the far east back home to the west via the Trans-Siberian railway (see LINK) . Their long trip ended in Bath, where James started a course of translation studies at the University.
The families--none of whom had attended the wedding in Japan-- decided that a celebration was in order.Accordingly, long transAtlantic discussions took place between James' parents, Jane and Peter Baugh, and Joy's parents (=us), and gradually the celebration grew from a little dinner in a restaurant to a large catered event in Jane and Peter's lovely house in Manchester.
Many many best wishes to Joy and James! It was a wonderful ceremony!
Many pictures were taken, and here is a link to a goodly selection of them and here to a larger collection.
What a lovely family Joy has married into! Jane and Peter labored all week making their house into a perfect place for the party: moving furniture, making beds, agonizing with the caterers, and basically working like slaves while the rest of us lounged about drinking and eating. I cannot praise them enough! A toast to them, and to the happy couple!
